Nyack Business Before the Malls: Part II
April 1, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Nyack Business Before the Malls: Part II, continues the story of Nyack’s role as a Rockland County shopping destination. The focus will be on the variety of shops on Broadway and Main Street from the 1920s through the 1960s. The exhibition will feature photographs of the area, a variety of advertisements from the Journal News during those years, the impact of urban renewal in the 1960s, and stories of merchants who were prominent in Nyack. This exhibition will be of interest not only to those who grew up in Nyack and who remember the businesses, but also to newcomers to the area interested in its history, and it illustrates the important contributions Nyack merchants made to everyday life here.
