RICHARD TUSCHMAN: Hopper Meditations
August 17, 2017 @ 12:00 am - October 29, 2017 @ 12:00 am
Richard Tuschman (b. 1956) will exhibit work from his series of lush and cinematic photographs entitled Hopper Meditations, inspired by the paintings of Edward Hopper. To create these works, Tuschman builds dollhouse-sized dioramas, which he then photographs and digitally incorporates life-sized models – including himself – to create realistic scenes reminiscent of Hopper’s imagery. As in many of Hopper’s well-known paintings, the characters’ in Tuschman’s pictures are imbued with a sense of anticipation, seemingly vacillating between introspection and isolation. Tuschman received a BFA from Michigan University and has shown his work throughout the U.S. and abroad. He lives and works in New York City.
