Sail on South Street Seaport’s Schooner Pioneer
September 24, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
One event on September 24, 2017 at 2:15pm
During the 4th annual Haverstraw RiverArts & Music Festival – 2 hours per sail
The schooner Pioneer was built in 1885 to haul sand for the iron foundries along the Delaware River, and is representative of the many schooners that would have been sailing the Hudson in years gone by, delivering goods to river communities and bringing the agricultural products and the bricks manufactured in Haverstraw down to the city.
Schooner Pioneer is owned and operated by the South Street Seaport Museum in Manhattan. For the past several decades she has served as an education vessel teaching students of all ages about the history and science of our waterways and about our maritime heritage, through hands-on experiences on the water under sail.
Tickets: $28 adults/seniors, per sail; $25 children (age 0-12). Tickets may be purchased here.
