Iconic American painter Edward Hopper was born and raised in Nyack. Spend the morning strolling the village to see for yourself the very sites of Hopper’s inspiration. Download a self-guided walking tour of Edward Hopper’s Nyack or join a guided tour of “Edward Hopper’s Nyack” in June or September (current schedule available here).
While you are enjoying your walking tour, stop into one of Nyack’s art galleries, located throughout downtown. Click here for a list.
When you are ready for a break, make your way back downtown for lunch. Art Cafe’s menu includes artist-inspired salads (Hopper, Picasso, Matisse) to keep you on-theme.
Next, pay a visit to the Edward Hopper House Art Center — the very house where Edward Hopper was raised from a small child and the permanent home of Hopper artifacts, plus special exhibits throughout the year. The Art Center is open Wednesday through Sunday, 12pm to 5pm. Plan your visit.
As your day winds down, leave some time to browse the local shops of Nyack, and finish up your tour at one of Nyack’s world class restaurants.
