Ten venues, all within 10 miles of the Tappan Zee Bridge, present two days of concerts, exhibitions, festivals, and plays, for the inaugural Rockland Culture Weekend. Come for the day or stay for the weekend, and enjoy Rockland County’s natural beauty and historic Hudson River villages.

For one weekend, Garner Arts, Union Arts Center, Edward Hopper House, RoCA (Rockland Arts Center), Bell-ans, Volition Gallery, Penguin Rep Theatre, Elmwood Playhouse, Piermont Straus Gallery, The Turning Point, and the Piermont Flywheel Gallery roll out the red carpet and welcome visitors to go on a Rockland cultural pilgrimage, an experience that promises to be like no other.

Kick off your weekend at the Garner Arts Festival, in Garnerville. Visit the former industrial complex, now home to dozens of artists. In addition to open studios, art installations and performances, this nationally recognized festival also has great food and music. Book ahead at Penguin Rep Theatre’s performance of Trayf.

Wind your way south on scenic Route 9W to Nyack and visit the Edward Hopper House Art Center – Hopper’s childhood home and the setting for a unique exhibition experience. Nyack boasts seven art galleries, numerous restaurants and music venues, and eclectic shops. Book ahead for the Elmwood Playhouse performance of La Cage Aux Folles, and enjoy RoCA’s sculpture garden tours, or join their wood sculpture workshop. Join Volition Gallery at Time Hotel, or visit Bell-ans for an artist talk and demonstration.

A short drive from either the Tappan Zee Bridge or the George Washington Bridge, don’t miss Piermont for openings and music. Piermont Straus Gallery, Flywheel Art Gallery, and Union Art Center all will be hosting new artists. Book ahead at Union Art Center for Opera, and Piermont’s famous Turning Point for live music.
