Edward Hopper House Art Center

At the Edward Hopper House Art Museum, view the annual Members’ Exhibition, open January 18 – February 16. Nyack’s richly talented artists are on display.

Opening February 22 at the Hopper House: “Painters and Paintings of Rockland County, NY: The Hopper Years.” The Art Center is open Thursday through Sunday, 12pm – 5pm.

Step back in time and visit Great Grandma’s Attic, on view through February at the Historical Society of the Nyacks, 50 Piermont Ave. Cast iron cookware and enamel pots on an old stove; tinware shakers, rolling pin, yellowware mixing bowl and cookie cutters on the kitchen table; these are just a few of the items that may remind you of childhood visits to the home of a belovedrelative or give younger folks a glimpse of some of the joys and hardships of life a few generations back. Exhibit open Saturdays through February, 1pm – 4pm.

Nyack History: Nyack Historical Society Picture Postcard History of NyackOpening February 1 in the Nyack Library’s Carnegie Room, “A Picture Postcard History of Nyack’s Churches,” with postcards from the collection of Robert Courtwright, a Nyack history enthusiast, who resides in South Nyack. His collection is extensive and provides a unique glimpse of Nyack’s ecclesiastical buildings. The exhibit will be open to the public from February 1 to April 30, 2014, during the Nyack Library’s regular hours, in the Carnegie Room – accessible from the South Broadway entrance of the library. The library is located at 59 South Broadway, Nyack, NY 10960.
