Why did you start your business?

After moving back to the United States from Buenos Aires, Argentina after owning a private practice there for four and a half years, we settled in Nyack because it was always the place I dreamed of living and loved while growing up in Rockland. I wanted to create a sanctuary for health and wellbeing that didn’t just offer acupuncture but the full spectrum of Traditional Chinese medicine ( acupuncture, TCM herbal medicine & dietary therapy with years of clinical experience) while also coming from an Integrative medicine approach, as well as being a support for the community. A space where people can really rest, relax and heal both heart and body but also have real changes in their lives and their health.

What does your business offer?

We offer all aspects of Traditional Chinese medicine provided by Drs. of Acupuncture & Chinese medicine. All of our practitioners are trained in the highest possible level of training in the medicine and also have training in Western medicine. Our services include : Acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Dietary therapy, Cupping, Gua Sha, Moxibustion, Facial Acupuncture and also microneedling. We also specialize in different areas as well. My specialties are women’s health, mental Health & pediatrics. Dr. Mijung Park is an orthopedic specialist, as well as internal medicine and Sehee Kim also does internal medicine & orthopedics. We also come from different backgrounds in medicine as well. In general, we offer high quality concierge level medicine with treatment being holistic via Traditional Chinese medicine.

What makes your business special/different?

We are the only multi practitioner Chinese medicine clinic in the county that truly offers Traditional Chinese medicine that also has an inhouse Chinese herbal pharmacy and takes insurance. I am also proudly the first candidate to have gotten the Doctorate of Acupuncture & Chinese medicine in Rockland in 2016 and have been in private practice for almost 15 years. Besides all of that, it’s really our relationship with our patients, they become part of the Two Rivers family and we get to see lives changed everyday. We also have the best staff and our space was designed for relaxation which you feel the moment you walk through our doors.

Who is your target customer?

Anyone from 1 week old to 100+ years. We see everyone and everything! We treat all aspects of Internal medicine, orthopedic medicine and mental health no matter the age, sex or condition of the issue.

What made you choose Nyack as the location for your business?

I grew up in New City and Nyack was always my little haven. I always had a special relationship with the place, the community, the creativity that thrives here, the nature and the river. I left for 20 years and lived in Arizona, California, Brooklyn, back to California and then Buenos Aires. When my older son was turning six we decided to move back to the United States and I thought to move more north in the Hudson Valley because I just wanted to be in nature. I was offered an amazing job at a clinic in NYC and decided that working there while building my private practice would work so much better in Nyack. We started over here from scratch after leaving my clinic in Buenos Aires so there was a lot of risk and trusting faith involved to say the least. Nyack just felt like the perfect place to land, a community that was ideal for my children and basically creating my dream in the place I always dreamt of living. Two Rivers Acupuncture will be 10 years old this November and there is not a day that goes by, that I am not grateful for it all and to live in such an incredible place.

Where do you see your business in the future?

We plan on hiring more TCM practitioners and would love to bring in nurse practitioners, massage therapists and maybe a therapist, making it more of a center where patients have access to high quality practitioners all under one roof. And of course we see ourselves being in Nyack for the long term. Coming onto 10 years as a small business in Nyack is no easy feat, especially after the covid years. We keep growing and providing more and more treatments to patients who come from Rockland, Bergen, Westchester, Orange county and even the city. This is really our greatest goal, to share how incredible this medicine is as both a treatment for just about everything and a preventative to keep you in your optimal health ( the OG Longevity medicine!)

Do you have any events or promotions coming up?

We are offering teachers 15% off for their summer break that will extend into the fall and I am hoping to start having 1-2 days a week specifically in my schedule where we offer oncology patients who may not have insurance coverage for acupuncture, 50% off of my treatments.

Is there anything else we should know?

We take most Out of Network Insurance! Most of the plans we see covering are Aetna, NYSHIP, BCBS, some United Plans and then there are others. We have an incredible office manager and in house biller, Megan Jones who helps our patients figure out their coverage and if they do not have coverage we offer discount packages to try and make it more affordable.

Besides that, how acupuncture is really an incredible medicine everyone should try! Acupuncture lowers inflammation, cortisol, can increase your dopamine levels, your grey matter in your brain which changes how your body responds to stress, anxiety, depression, etc. It actually regenerates cells in the body which can help keep you young and healthy and also heal things like chronic pain and also chronic ailments where Western medicine may not have helped. We have a saying that Western medicine saves lives but Chinese medicine changes your life. It truly does. Check our Two Rivers Acupuncture on google and read our patient’s testimonies. Many of them seem like little miracles but they are stories of lives changed through one of the most powerful medicines that we are so lucky still exists and is practiced 3000 years later.

One last thing, also look out for my acupuncture sound baths which I do once in a while – I’ve been a performing singer most of my life and absolutely love combining music with healing.
