Can’t be there to shout “BOO!” at your favorite ghouls this Halloween? Local Artists Bill Batson and Marisol Diaz have a spooky solution! They’ve collaborated to create three creepy cards, now available at Koblin’s Pharmacy (96 Main St.), Pickwick Book Shop (8 S. Broadway), and Bill Batson Arts booth at the Nyack Farmers Market (Main St. parking lot on Thursdays, 8am-2pm ).

These cards transform hauntingly beautiful houses that have been featured in Bill’s weekly column, Nyack Sketch Log, into ghostly greetings with eerie embellishments by Marisol.

Like many Victorians houses, the Horton Foote house on North Broadway only looks a bit spooky, but the other two have real poltergeist pedigree. One is the “legally haunted house” on LaVeta Place and the other was depicted by Edward Hopper in House by the Railroad, which became Hitchcock’s inspiration for the Bate’s mansion in Psycho.

We might not be celebrating Halloween this year as we have in the past, but we can still have some scary season in our lives, while supporting some wonderful, local Nyack artists and businesses.

In addition to these supernatural seasonal creations, Bill has other Nyack Sketch Log-Inspired wares for sale such as car magnets, tote bags, t-shirts, hats, along with two volumes of Nyack Sketch Log books. His sketch of Edward Hopper’s bike has become an iconic symbol for the Village of Nyack. Get yours more at nyackgift.com or weekly at the Farmers Market.
