SUMMARY:Film Screening: NAT FEIN: A TALENT FOR LIVING
DESCRIPTION:Most people don’t know Nat Fein’s name—but they know his work. Fein captured one of the most iconic images in American sports history: Babe Ruth’s final appearance at Yankee Stadium\, a photograph that earned Fein the 1949 Pulitzer Prize and became known as #3 Bows Out. This documentary tells the story of a self-made photojournalist working during the golden age of journalism\, whose career at the New York Herald Tribune earned him more NY Press Photographers Association awards than any of his peers. Through interviews with leading experts from AP\, Time Life\, and journalism history\, the film explores Fein’s lasting influence on generations of photographers. More than a photographer\, Fein was a singer\, an artist\, and a person who brought joy to others—a man who truly had a talent for living. This is his remarkable and largely untold story.

SUMMARY:FUGS Film!
DESCRIPTION:FUGS Film!\nDirected by Chuck Smith\n2025\, USA\, 84 minutes \nDiscussion afterwards with the director\, Chuck Smith\, and Co-Producer\, Myles Aronowitz \nChuck Smith revels in 1960s sounds and the spirit of counterculture with this politically pointed look back at the volatile energy of protest and creation behind the avant-garde NYC band The Fugs (say it out loud!). Even as band members Ed Sanders\, Ken Weaver\, and Tuli Kupferberg found that fighting the good fight eventually proved unsustainable\, today they are—along with present-day commentators like Penny Arcade\, Jeffrey Lewis\, Lenny Kaye\, and Aline and R. Crumb—just as individualistic and feisty.

SUMMARY:Maureen’s Jazz Cellar Presents: “The American Songbook\, Then and Now” w/Melissa Stylianou & Marcus Goldhaber!
DESCRIPTION:Maureen’s Jazz Cellar\n2 N. Broadway\, Nyack\, NY 10960 \nMUST CALL FOR RESERVATIONS:  \n(845) 535-3143 \nJoin veteran jazz vocalists Melissa Stylianou and Marcus Goldhaber for a duet-filled evening of storytelling and song as they reimagine their favorite standards\, paired seamlessly with their highly acclaimed original compositions. \n  \nMelissa Stylianou \nJazz vocalist\, lyricist\, and educator Melissa Stylianou\, hailed by piano master Fred Hersch for her “gorgeous instrument\, superb musicianship\, and great taste\,” has garnered acclaim as both a gifted songwriter and a bold\, imaginative interpreter of wide-ranging material spanning diverse genres\, from the Great American Songbook to Johnny Cash to original songs. In addition to her five albums as a leader\, Stylianou documented her close musical bond with guitar legend Gene Bertoncini and bassist Ike Sturm on the 2022 album Dream Dancing (Anzic Records). The album received wide critical acclaim (including a rare 5-star review in Downbeat Magazine). As a bandleader/songwriter and as a member of the powerhouse vocal trio Duchess\, Stylianou maintains a busy performing and recording schedule. She is currently developing an album of original songs that will reflect and combine her Irish and Greek-Cypriot musical roots.    \n  \n  \nMarcus Goldhaber  \nNew York-based Jazz vocalist and songwriter Marcus Goldhaber is a Hot House Magazine and BroadwayWorld.com nominee for Best Male Vocalist\, as well as a MAC Award nominee for Best Song.  His signature velvet bari-tenor has been heard at Carnegie Hall\, 54 Below\, Birdland\, Blue Note\, Iridium and The Cutting Room; The Catalina (Los Angeles\, California); The Smith Center (Las Vegas\, Nevada); and the Sellersville Theater (Sellersville\, Pennsylvania)\, where he opened for Jane Monheit. \nAcclaimed by JazzTimes as “wonderfully imaginative” and by Jazziz as “exciting and fresh\,” Goldhaber reinvents the Great American Songbook for the 21st century\, infusing the classics with new vitality.  His original songs\, at once modern and timeless\, captivate listeners with their emotional depth\, irresistible melodies\, and lyrical sophistication. “Tasteful and hip\, Goldhaber has a gorgeous and sensitive vocal quality [that] brings the lyric to life.” Jazz Improv Magazine. “Like a plate full of comfort food!” All About Jazz. To quote the Midwest Record\, he is as good as it gets!”  After transitioning out of his recent position as Creative Director and co-founder of Harlem’s acclaimed speakeasy Jazz Club\, Room 623\, his new original holiday single\, “I Can’t Wait for Christmas\,” was released ahead of the 2025 holiday season and hailed “A perfect fit!” by The JW Vibe. His new album\, The Promise of You will be released May 1\, 2026.
