SUMMARY:My Father's Name: Film Screening and Director Q&A
DESCRIPTION:The intimate story of one woman’s attempt to uncover the truth about her father’s participation in a lynching\, find a way to hold her family accountable\, and face the dawning awareness of her own unconscious racism. \nYears after Lee Ed Frazier’s death\, his daughter Jan made a shocking discovery: as a young man her father had participated in a lynching. As she attempts to uncover the truth about what happened\, Jan learns that this specific lynching was iconic in American history\, because photos of it were the first ever to be published in a national publication. Both Time and Life magazines carried the story and the photos as they reported on the anti-lynching bill that was before Congress at that very moment. \nAdditionally\, she realizes that no names of the lynchers were ever published. Even the photographer was protected by a cloak of agreed-upon anonymity. Shaken by this stark reflection of white privilege and the brutality it sought to minimize\, Jan must now reckon with deeply conflicted feelings about the father she loved\, find a way to hold her family accountable and face the dawning awareness of her own unconscious racism.

SUMMARY:"If I Had Legs I'd Kick You"
DESCRIPTION:Contact: Patricia Schneider/Publicist (917) 612-2675 \n“If I Had Legs I’d Kick You” Brings a Howl of Maternal Desperation Spiked with Jagged Humor \nMarch 2026– A mother on the verge of a nervous breakdown. \nThat would be Linda\, the protagonist of “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You”\, which Rivertown Film is screening on Wednesday\, March 25th at The Nyack Center (South Broadway at Depew Ave.\, entrance on South Broadway). Linda\, a therapist\, has good reason to be at her breaking point: her living room ceiling has just caved in\, necessitating a move to a cheap motel. She is the mother of a child who refuses to eat and must be sustained by a feeding tube. Her husband\, who undermines her\, is a cruise captain on a monthslong trip. She has a patient whose delusions about her baby are very concerning\, and Linda’s own therapist seems to hate her. \nWho wouldn’t be on the verge? \nBrilliantly portrayed by Rose Byrne\, an Oscar nominee for her performance\, Linda’s choices grow increasingly horrible and irresponsible as she suffers one setback after another. The spot on\, disquieting sound design of the film emphasizes Rose’s suffocation.\nThe movie turns a mother’s anxiety into an almost supernatural force. \nDoors to the Nyack Center open at 7:30pm\, and the film begins at 8pm. Tickets are $13/General Admission\, $11/Students & Seniors\, and $9/Rivertown Film Members More information can be found at rivertownfilm.org. \nRivertown Film is a non-profit organization which was founded in 2001. Their mission is devoted to celebrating\, exploring and promoting the art of the motion picture through film screenings and educational programs. The organization is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts and with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature\, and our corporate sponsor are Elena Schloss\, Happy Dwellings with Elena/ Julia B. Fee\, Sotheby’s International Realty\, Painter Smith Advertising\, Emily J. Blake MD\, and Emerald Medicare. \n#. #. #. #

SUMMARY:The Art and Industry of Audiobooks with Tavia Gilbert
DESCRIPTION:Audiobooks are a multi-billion dollar industry\, and a leader in publishing revenues\, but for many entrepreneurial authors\, audiobooks remain untapped and misunderstood. When and where should resources be invested in order to create a successful audiobook? Should every writer narrate their own book or hire a professional voice talent (or use an AI voice)? How are books recorded\, produced\, and distributed? Join leading audiobook narrator and director Tavia Gilbert in a short session designed to demystify the booming business of audio. \n**********This event is in collaboration with the Arts Council of Rockland County************

SUMMARY:Film Screening: NAT FEIN: A TALENT FOR LIVING
DESCRIPTION:Most people don’t know Nat Fein’s name—but they know his work. Fein captured one of the most iconic images in American sports history: Babe Ruth’s final appearance at Yankee Stadium\, a photograph that earned Fein the 1949 Pulitzer Prize and became known as #3 Bows Out. This documentary tells the story of a self-made photojournalist working during the golden age of journalism\, whose career at the New York Herald Tribune earned him more NY Press Photographers Association awards than any of his peers. Through interviews with leading experts from AP\, Time Life\, and journalism history\, the film explores Fein’s lasting influence on generations of photographers. More than a photographer\, Fein was a singer\, an artist\, and a person who brought joy to others—a man who truly had a talent for living. This is his remarkable and largely untold story.

SUMMARY:FUGS Film!
DESCRIPTION:FUGS Film!\nDirected by Chuck Smith\n2025\, USA\, 84 minutes \nDiscussion afterwards with the director\, Chuck Smith\, and Co-Producer\, Myles Aronowitz \nChuck Smith revels in 1960s sounds and the spirit of counterculture with this politically pointed look back at the volatile energy of protest and creation behind the avant-garde NYC band The Fugs (say it out loud!). Even as band members Ed Sanders\, Ken Weaver\, and Tuli Kupferberg found that fighting the good fight eventually proved unsustainable\, today they are—along with present-day commentators like Penny Arcade\, Jeffrey Lewis\, Lenny Kaye\, and Aline and R. Crumb—just as individualistic and feisty.
