Through a stunning series of over twenty new works—including watercolors of native grasses\, plein air canvases\, and innovative sculptures—Prosek invites visitors to explore how we classify\, name\, and communicate our place within the natural world.\n\nThe exhibition also addresses urgent contemporary themes\, including climate change\, biodiversity loss\, and Indigenous land stewardship. A key highlight features three collaborative works with Penobscot artist Sarah Sockbeson\, blending intricately woven ash and sweetgrass baskets with Prosek’s sculpted clay flowers—a metaphorical weaving of diverse cultural perspectives.

SUMMARY:Ecology and Beauty! Creating a Landscape that Welcomes Wildlife and People
DESCRIPTION:Now more than ever\, our yards and community spaces need to support biodiversity. How can we ensure that our spaces are both ecologically rich and beautiful? We’ll look at which plants matter most when it comes to your local biodiversity; how to procure them for generous plantings; and how to place them to increase their appeal to wildlife and people\, along with strategies to protect the wildlife our natural plantings attract.  A cost-conscious\, DIY approach makes taking action doable.  We’ll consider strategies to ensure that our landscapes gain community acceptance such that they become invitations for others to transform their landscapes. Presenter Bio: Sarah F. Jayne is an environmentalist\, educator\, and wildlife advocate who has gardened for over 45 years from California to the East Coast. Her book Nature’s Action Guide: How to Support Biodiversity and Your Local Ecosystem is a companion to Doug Tallamy’s Nature’s Best Hope and features 15 urgent actions to support biodiversity.
