Erika Szente, a highly skilled and passionate Hungarian seamstress and artisan, has dedicated over four decades of her life to the art of custom textiles. Her journey began in Budapest, Hungary, where she developed an eye for design and a talent for working with her hands. After moving to New York in the 1990s, she attended fashion school and embarked on a career as a milliner (hatmaker). Her creative path led her to a jewelry apprenticeship before life took a new turn—marriage, motherhood, and a home in picturesque Piermont, NY.
With an entrepreneurial spirit and a determination to build a future for her family, Erika transformed the family’s dining room into a full-fledged workroom, filled with sewing machines, fabrics, and creative energy. What started as a one-woman operation soon blossomed into what is now ES Home Textile Studio, specializing in custom window treatments and home décor. Over the years, Erika’s business flourished, adapting and evolving to meet the ever-changing demands of her loyal clientele. From modest home studios to a charming brick-and-mortar location in Nyack, ES Home Textile Studio has become an emblem of creativity and craftsmanship.
Sara, an artist at heart, initially pursued a career in teaching but found herself drawn back home after the pandemic. What started as a temporary helping hand quickly turned into a full-time passion. “Over a year later, I can definitely say the call was coming from inside the house!” she jokes.

Nyack has been home for Erika and Sara for decades, and the community’s support has been instrumental in their growth. “Piermont and Nyack are our homes,” says Sara. “Our neighbors look out for us, and the people here truly understand the value of supporting small businesses.”

While Sara dreams of eventually giving her mother a well-earned retirement by the pool, the duo is focused on growing the business while maintaining their signature personal touch. “Our clients love the level of care we bring to every job, and we’re not looking to change that any time soon.”
