Memoir Writing Workshop with Jocelyn Jane Cox: Sensory Details as Portals

Memoirist and personal essayist Jocelyn Jane Cox will discuss how taste, smell, hearing, touch, and sight can serve as portals to the past and unlock memories deep within. Join Jocelyn as she presents relevant examples and generative exercises to make our personal writing more vibrant and visceral. Bring a laptop or notebook.
Jocelyn Jane Cox is a local essayist, author, and writing coach whose personal essays have appeared in The New York Times, Newsweek, The Independent, Good Men Project, WIRED, Slate, and several literary magazines. She holds a graduate degree in creative writing from Sarah Lawrence College and a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Pennsylvania. Her memoir MOTION DAZZLE: A Memoir of Motherhood, Loss, and Skating on Thin Ice will be released by Vine Leaves Press on September 30, 2025.
