Toni Morrison: A Retrospective
May 15, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 1:00 pm on Saturday, repeating until June 26, 2021
The life of local celebrity and Nobel prize-winning author Toni Morrison is re-examined in this exhibit curated by local novelist, Brenda Ross. The exhibit covers a refreshing set of Morrison’s life lessons offering a glimpse of her not well-explored before, including her insights on the creative process, Black women and feminism, and capturing ‘the Black voice’. Learn how she usually begins her novels at its end, her opinion about writer’s block, and how writing is similar to acting—you become that character, and much more.
This is the first exhibit of the Historical Society of the Nyacks’ new museum on the first floor of the DePew Building at 50 Piermont Ave.
The museum adheres to current COVID-19 protocols. To ensure proper social distancing, only ten visitors are allowed in the museum at a time. Plan your visit in advance.
Pre-registration and masks are required. Online appointments at half-hour intervals from 1-4pm can be made via BrownPaperTickets by clicking HERE. Ten people will be allowed in the museum for each half-hour appointment. Masks are required during the visit.
