Join us for a very enlightening and engaging presentation with acclaimed art historian and curator Robin Jaffee Frank, PhD, LOOKING BEYOND: PORTALS IN THE ART OF EDWARD HOPPER, with an introduction by special guest, Rockland County Poet Laureate Juan Juan Pablo Mobili
Thursday, April 17, 2025 | 6:00–7:30 PM
Edward Hopper House Museum, 82 N. Broadway, Nyack, NY
Members: $10 | Public: $15 | Space is limited to 25 attendees
In conjunction with PORTAL: The Window in American Photography, Dr. Frank will delve into Edward Hopper’s masterful use of portals—windows and doorways—as formal, symbolic, and psychological thresholds. Through these architectural elements, Hopper invites us to look beyond the physical into the interior world of thought and emotion. His works elicit feelings of isolation, longing, voyeurism, and quiet introspection, leaving the narrative open to each viewer’s imagination.
We’re also honored to welcome Juan Mobili, Rockland County Poet Laureate, who will share poetic reflections inspired by the themes of the evening.
Dr. Frank is an independent curator and art historian who has held curatorial roles at the Wadsworth Atheneum, Yale University Art Gallery, and the New-York Historical Society. She holds a PhD in art history from Yale and has organized exhibitions and lectured across the country.
Space is limited—reserve your seat early!
