Saturday Spotlight: Nursery School of the Nyacks
Tell me a bit about your background. What did you do before starting your business?
Our teachers are a group of community driven people who are passionate about early childhood education, our wonderful town, and fostering relationships within the Nyack community. We have various degrees in early childhood education, many years of experience, and ongoing training.
Why did you start your business?
Nursery School of the Nyacks was born out of a need for quality early childhood programming in the area. We started as a parent co-op which encouraged a wonderful dynamic between families and staff. We are celebrating our 27th year!
What does your business offer?
We offer classes for two, three, and four years olds.
What makes your business special/different?
Our close working relationship with families continues to be a strength of NSN. We are a true collaborative community. We also have a strong emphasis on creating a play based program that focuses on social-emotional development that fosters independence and curiosity.
Who is your target customer?
We serve families with children ages two to four.
What made you choose Nyack as the location for your business?
Nyack actually chose us. NSN was formed when an existing pre-school was closing. It was founded by a group of parents who wanted to continue the philosophy, community involvement, and cooperative environment. We are proud to call Nyack our home almost 3 decades later.
Where do you see your business in the future?
We would love to continue working with local businesses such as our collaboration with creativeartsworkshopnyack which offers an extension to the day for our older children.
Do you have any events or promotions coming up?
We have our Open House today, Saturday, February 7th from 10am-12pm. All are invited!
Is there anything else we should know?
Our alumni and their families remain an important part of our community.
