From a village-wide trick-or-treat trail and jaw-dropping parade (named one of the Travel Channel’s top Halloween Parades in the US), to our second annual house decorating competition, Nyack leaves no tombstone unturned! The entire village gets into the gruesome groove, with a spine-tingling selection of Halloween-themed art, music, parties, treats and film events.

Oak Hill Cemetery Walking Tour
Oct 20
Take a spooky, yet scenic, stroll through Oak Hill Cemetery with guides from the Historical Society of the Nyacks and celebrate the lives of many “permanent residents” of the Nyacks who made their mark on the national, state, and local stages. Actress Helen Hayes, playwrights Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur, artist Edward Hopper, author Carson McCullers and some of the earliest settlers of the Nyacks are buried here. A $5 donation is suggested. Meet at 2:00 pm at the entrance gate.

The Nyack Village Theater BOO-tique’s Yack Yack Broadcast Show invites you to a rollicking party featuring Visual Artist Cori Schimko, Stand Up Comedy by Austin Gallo, and live musical performances by Curly (full band performance), Mik3y The Rapper, Rachel Beers, and John from…. Nyack Halloween Parade, plus Village-Wide Trick-or-Treat Trail and Music Festival

The Nyack Chamber of Commerce pulls out all the stops for the super scary “main event:”
- Trick-or-Treat Trail: At 1:00 pm, Nyack businesses open their doors and bottomless bags of candy to kids of all ages who crave sweets and are wearing kooky costumes. Tricksters can pick up maps and treat bags at the Veterans Memorial Park gazebo on Main Street
- All-day music festival: Featuring live bands at various outdoor locations throughout the village starting at 3:00 pm and continuing until after the parade.
- Parade registration: Begins at 3:00 pm in Memorial Park for the 32nd Annual Nyack Halloween Parade, including costume and float contests
- 32nd Annual Nyack Halloween Parade: Steps off from Memorial Park at 5:30 pm
- Contest winners announced: Best costume and float competition winners will be announced at 8:00 pm in the Main Street parking lot following the parade. Cash prizes will be awarded, along with custom trophies designed by local artist Peter Cheney.
- MonsterMash: Festivities continue at 8:30 at the Nyack Center. Families are welcome for more music, games, food and sweet treats. Admission free. Nyack Center, 58 Depew Avenue
- After parties: Many of Nyack’s restaurants and night spots join the fun with special parties after the parade. Casa del Sol’s Annual Afterparty with Frankie Dee and Maureen’s Jazz Cellar’s S’Bud is Dead Halloween Bash are just two of a myriad of monstrous options. Costumes are encouraged!

House and Lawn Decorating Contest

Check out the spookiest, most cleverly decorated candy distribution portals in Nyack as Better Homes & Gardens Rand Realty of Nyack and the Nyack Chamber of Commerce sponsor the Second Annual House and Lawn Decoration Contest. Ballots will be distributed at the Halloween Parade and at the following polling sites where completed ballots can be dropped off until Wednesday, November 6. Winners will be announced at Casa del Sol at 7pm on Thursday, November 7!

Secret Scary Movie Night

Casa Del Sol hosts its Second Annual Secret Scary Movie! Haunted Happy Hour begins at 6:00 pm with Halloween-themed cocktails on the menu, while DJ Don of the Dead spins obscure and rare Halloween tunes. A special screening of a secret scary movie will be shown on the big screen in the dining room at 7:00 pm.

Nyack’s Halloween Night: Terrifically terrifying trick-or-treating fun

Upper Nyack―North of Main Street on Broadway―is hands-down the liveliest trick-or-treat destination in the area, where the actual night of Halloween is celebrated regardless of the day of the week or the weather. Streets are closed to traffic, home owners go all out on decorating their spooky abodes, and literally thousands of pounds of candy are distributed to kids of all ages. As the icing on the creepy cake, the Upper Nyack Firehouse on North Broadway hosts its annual haunted house, a beloved tradition for those who dare make the visit. Festivities start at about 3:00 pm and go to the witching hour.
