Friday

  • Don’t miss jazz piano legend Alan Broadbent with Don Falzone, presented by Rockland County Jazz and Blues Society. A Grammy Award winner, Broadbent’s performance credits include Woody Herman, Natalie Cole and Charlie Haden. 8-10p at Union Arts Center, 2 Union St, Sparkill.
  • The Nyack High School Coffee Houseshowcases its musically talented students from 7-9p at Nyack High School, 360 Christian Herald Rd.
  • Hear Mozart’s The Magic Flute fully staged in costume, presented by the Nyack College Opera Workshop. Fri at 8p, Sun at 3p at Nyack College, Pardington Hall, 45 S Boulevard.
  • Sir Cadian Rhythm performs rock fusion at 10p at Olive’s, 118 Main St, Nyack.

  • It’s an Earth Day celebration with live music, food trucks recycling, gardening and composting tips. Artisans and children’s activities, too. Presented by the Nyack Chamber of Commerce. 12n-5p at the Main Street Gazebo, Cedar St, Nyack.
  • Jimmerson String Festival features all Nyack school district strings students, from first-year students through the NHS Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra, performing in a grand finale of over 200 players. 1p, Nyack High School Gym, 360 Christian Herald Rd.
  • Take part in Flowers for Peace, a Japanese flower arranging workshop. Feel mindfulness of body and mind through this ancient practice. 10a at Union Arts Center, 2 Union Street, Sparkill.
  • Where We Are Standing: Contemporary Women Artists from Iran. Three artists who grew up in Iran before moving to North America share a strong cultural identity and a common focus on issues of gender and displacement shaped by the complex political and social landscape of their homeland. Featuring the work of Golnar Adili, Roya Farassat, and Shabnam K. Ghazi. Exhibit runs through April 24.  Wed-Sun 12-6p at the Hopper House Art Center, 82 N Broadway, Nyack.

  • Son of Saul, an Oscar-nominated film about a group of Jewish prisoners isolated from the camp and forced to assist the Nazis in the machinery of large-scale extermination. Part of the Jewish Film Festival. 7p at Lafayette Theater, 97 Lafayette Ave, Suffern.
  • Nyack Business: Long Before the Malls at The Historical Society of the Nyacks Museumfeatures photographs and memorabilia from local businesses in the Time Before The Malls. Open Sundays through May 29. 1p at Depew House, 50 Piermont Ave.
  • Learn about the Hudson Valley’s Dutch origins dating back to the 1600’s at the Dutchtown and Major Andre: Highlights of Haverstraw History exhibit, presented by the Historical Society of Rockland and the Town of Haverstraw. The environmental community of Rockland and Bergen Counties welcomes the Wild & Scenic Film Festival in celebration of Earth Day. One of the nation’s premiere environmental and adventure film festivals, this touring festival includes environmental and adventure films that illustrate the Earth’s beauty. 7:30 – 10:30p at Lafayette Theater, 97 Lafayette Ave, Suffern.
