by Mike Hays We take for granted the large, attractive stone building fronting the parking lot and the Hudson River at Nyack Beach Park. Once known as the power house, it was rechristened as a bath house before swimming in the river was discouraged. It's a beautiful building with a long history of varied uses.
by Mike Hays Nyack composer/performer Dan Cohen says that Maureen’s Jazz Cellar might just be “the perfect room” to hear live music in Nyack. "It’s a place where heaven and Earth and the space-time continuum all align and synchronize to create a venue with a certain inalienable magic." Nyack’s only jazz club, Maureen’s Jazz Cellar, opened by Nyack artist Brianne Higgins and David Budway last summer, commemorates the great live jazz performances of David’s late sister, Maureen Budway.
